It’s been a hot minute, so I thought I’d share a few updates.
Today, I’m focusing on the 7th Commandment for my next book, The Perfect 10: How & Why God’s Commandments Still Apply in the 21st Century.
This book is shaping into a reflective book that contains prompts for prayer and godly self-assessment.
It’s always funny how when I’m writing something, it turns into a discussion between my heart and God’s even when my initial purpose is to share it with others.
I have a feeling God is more than aware.
I’m also writing a book of poetry called Poems in the Key of “The.“ It’s been a fun little project that will come out after my Commandments book.
Here’s a sample poem from that collection:
The Wind
I’m whirlwind,
and dervish,
and muddy-headed
to the touch.
The worst of sinners
(watch out, Paul)
but also the softest
heart because Your
hand has touched me.
Let me live like Spirit,
Your Wind,
the truth ever-present,
but most importantly,
love unchained.
Our Church is doing a year-long study in Acts, digging deep through deductive study.
I love this about our church. Too often we get sucked into thematic sermons that are coming from the pastor’s own personal point of view (something our current pastor referenced as breeding seeds for a cult of personality), instead of letting the Word speak for itself.
This concept has made me reflect on my own study and sharing of the Word, and I’m looking forward to completing Acts so that I can tackle my next book project, Churched: The Difference Between the Body of Christ and the Manipulation of Man
In an era where truth and discernment are quickly dwindling, my goal is to use Acts as my guide to further remind us of how sharing the Gospel is sowing seeds of what Christ did on the cross, not forcing our own particular viewpoints (including political leanings and social agendas) that may be misguided (especially if we spend more time scrolling than in the Word).
Please be in prayer for me as I study and start writing.
Lastly, no word on my legal transcription certification yet. I am taking another small certification course through the company I work for that I’m excited about. As soon as I hear something, I’ll let you know!
Thanks, friends, and happy Sunday!
